Weinwurm´s

Historie
Having such a wonderful name as Weinwurm (wine worm), the miller Anton Weinwurm
thought 60 years ago that he simply could not go on milling for the rest of his life, and so
he planted a vineyard in Dobermannsdorf. Though the Grüne Veltliner turned out to his
surprise to be a Zweigelt – ultimately, this laid the foundation for the unusual red wine
diversity of the Weinwurms. Today red and white varietals are grown on 14 hectares
and the numerous different grape varieties are one of the characteristics of the
winery.
Terroir
Dobermannsdorf has an exceptional position with Pannonian influence in the north-eastern region of Weinviertel. The mild climate of Hungarian origin contributes to the high quality of red wines which develop very favourably in the main growing area of the Grüner Veltliner. Loess soils with black earth, sometimes mixed with loamy soils, form the underground for Weinwurm`s grapes. The average annual temperature reaches 6-7 degrees Celsius, sunshine hours add up to approximately 1.800 with an average of 500 mm rainfall per year.
Awards
Weinwurm’s wine selection comprises SALON-prized white and red wines which have been recognized by the specialist magazines Falstaff, VINARIA, A la Carte and Weinwelt. A selection of our wines have been successful at Wine Challenges in Vienna, Zagreb, London and Chicago, yet our greatest success is without a doubt your satisfaction with our wines.
